Introducing Edcite
- What Is Edcite?
- Our mission statement: Empowering Teachers. Engaging Students.
Edcite is a comprehensive education platform equipping teachers with customizable content and quality Common Core resources. Our platform is built by teachers, for teachers to tackle the classroom challenges of today and strengthen the quality of education tomorrow. Edcite is about access, not ownership; we believe all students and teachers deserve top quality digital tools and content, and our site will always be free for teachers and students.
Edcite is about enabling teachers to engage their students better. We believe that this is key to improving student learning and reducing teacher workload. The upcoming transition to Common Core standards and web-based assessments creates a need in education, and an opportunity for us, to deliver on our objective.
To this end, Edcite provides a web-based platform for teachers to design interactive Assignments that are aligned with the rigor and style of the Common Core. The more that teachers use Edcite, the more useful the product becomes!
We have a continually expanding library of Questions and Assignments spanning various grades -- and these can be tagged to specific Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
On our platform, students can get as many opportunities as they need to practice with these high-level questions. We believe that this type of formative practice improves their learning. (These are typically designed to be formative in nature to help the student reinforce concepts through non-repetitive practice combined with immediate and helpful feedback). - What are the technology requirements for Edcite?
- To use Edcite, you need to have access to the Internet on any platform via an up-to-date browser. Currently, Edcite is supported on Windows, Mac, Ubuntu desktop platforms and Android and iOS mobile platforms. Edcite recommends the use of Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Please note that Internet Explorer does not work very well with Edcite at this time.

Edcite supports tagging of content to the supported standards above. Edcite also allows freeform tagging to any other standards needed. Tagging is not mandatory though it is recommended for easier searching and tracking of content.
Edcite has an evolving set of Question types that emulate the Smarter Balanced (SB) and the PARCC styles. Edcite aligns with the K12 testing requirements in several US states and will enable teachers to give their students formative practice that will familiarize them with the technology types used in their summative assessments. - What is the cost for using Edcite?
- Edcite is completely free for teachers and students alike.
- My school/state is not planning to adopt the Common Core. Can I still use Edcite?

Common Core standards exist for Math and ELA today. Edcite can be used for these and all other subjects as well. Several teachers use Edcite in their Science and Foreign Language classes. Edcite is also popular among teachers in Ireland. - Does Edcite have a support forum or a helpdesk? How can I provide suggestions or feedback to Edcite?

Edcite allows teachers to create a printed version of the assignment. This is designed to help students who my not be able to go online. (Please note: the printed version of Edcite assignments will NOT have the same interactive features as the online assignment. The effectiveness of doing Edcite assignments on paper will depend on the exact question types used in that assignment.) - How did I do on an assignment? How soon can I see my scores?
- Your teacher decides whether or not you get to see the correct answers and your scores as soon as you submit an assignment.
If your teacher enabled question-level feedback, you can click "Done, Grade Q" to see how you did on that particular question. You can also see how you did on the assignment as a whole when you submit the assignment on completion.
All auto-graded responses are scored immediately and shown in the Score report. Responses that require teacher grading will not be scored until the teacher is done grading the assignment.
Your Student homepage lists all of your assignments. There is a "Report" button for each completed assignment that brings up the associated score report.
Please Note: You can practice an assignment any number of times by choosing the "View Assignment" action button from your assignment listing, and clicking on "Open" when the assignment page comes up.
Only the first submission is taken into account for scoring. - Where can I see how I did on all my assignments?
- On the menu bar of the Student homepage, click on "Assignments" and then "My Scores" to show you an assignment-by-assignment summary of your scores. Clicking on the "Details" of each assignment will show you how you did on each question in the assignment.
